BREONNA TAYLOR MURAL | BLACK LIVES MATTER

Following the killing of Breonna Taylor in 2020, I created a mural in her honor as part of the broader Black Lives Matter movement. The work was created as a public act of remembrance and solidarity, acknowledging the collective grief, anger, and demand for justice felt across communities in Los Angeles and around the country.

The mural centers Breonna Taylor as a figure of dignity and presence, transforming public space into a site of reflection and remembrance. Through the act of painting her image in the city, the work seeks to honor her life while also amplifying the call for accountability and systemic change.

Public art has long played a role in documenting moments of collective struggle. This mural was created with the intention of holding space for mourning, awareness, and conversation — ensuring that Breonna Taylor’s name and story remain visible within the public landscape.

The project stands as part of a larger cultural moment in which artists across the country used murals and public imagery to express solidarity, resistance, and community care.

This mural was created as a way to honor Breonna Taylor’s life and to contribute to the collective demand for justice and accountability.
